The former superintendent of a suburban Chicago school district, her contributions to the construction of STEM research labs to integrate the STEM disciplines and encourage students to research, interact and explore garnered national attention, winning the coveted National School Boards Association citation in 2010, one of only three school districts in the United States to receive this distinction, and the 2011 Award from the Illinois Association of School Boards.
